Why sterling, not pure silver
Fine silver is soft enough to deform in a pocket. Adding 7.5% copper gives sterling the springiness a clasp needs and the hardness a ring shank needs, while keeping the bright white colour.
The rate is not the price
We do not publish a 925 price per gram, because a sterling piece is not sold as raw metal. The market rate tells you what the silver content is broadly worth; the rest of the price is the making.
How to verify a 925 stamp
Look for a clear 925 mark inside a ring band or on a clasp tag. Genuine sterling is non-magnetic, and a reputable shop will happily let you test it. Plated pieces wear through at the edges over time — sterling does not.
