Do the arithmetic before you agree
Multiply the piece's weight in grams by the per-gram rate for its karat. That gives you the metal value. Whatever the quote exceeds it by is making charges and any stone or design work — ask for that figure explicitly.
Per gram, per 10 grams, per tola
All three describe the same metal at different scales. Where our source gives a per-gram number directly we show it as supplied; where we converted it from a tola rate, the row is marked as converted.
Making charges are usually per gram too
Many workshops price labour per gram of finished weight, which is why an intricate bangle costs more to make than a plain one of the same weight. It is a fair charge — it should just be stated openly.
